Router Reset – Important Information
Resetting your router will remove all of its settings and disconnect your internet service.
Do not reset your router unless the Service Desk has asked you to.
In most cases, resetting makes faults harder to diagnose and will require the router to be reprogrammed.
How to Tell If Your Router Has Been Reset
If your router has been reset, you will usually see one or more of the following:
- Your Wi-Fi name has changed back to the factory default
(for example TP-Link_XXXX or Zyxel_XXXX) - Your Wi-Fi password no longer works
- You cannot access the internet
If this has happened, your router will need to be reconfigured.
Where to Find Your Broadband Login Details (PPPoE)
Your router needs broadband login details (PPPoE) to connect to our network.
You can find these in one of the following places:
- On the paperwork that was sent with your router
- By requesting them from the Service Desk
Important:
Some older services use the account number as both the username and password.
Newer services use a generated password instead.
If you are unsure which applies to you, contact the Service Desk before attempting setup.
How to Identify Your Router Model
You will need to know your router model before following a setup guide.
- Turn the router over and look at the sticker on the bottom
- Find the Model or Model Name
- Make a note of it (for example: TP-Link Archer C20i or Zyxel VMG8825-T50)
Once you know the model, use the correct guide below.
