Pro-Rata Billing Explained
Your first Vfast bill may be higher than your usual monthly charge. This is because your first payment includes both:
- A part-month charge, and
- Your first full month in advance
This ensures your account is always billed one month ahead.
What is pro-rata billing?
Pro-rata billing means you only pay for the days you used the service before your normal monthly billing date.
How your first bill is worked out
Your first payment includes:
1. Part-month charge
From your activation date up to your regular billing date.
2. Next full month in advance
Your normal monthly subscription.
After this, you will only be charged one month at a time on your normal billing date.
Example
Activation date: 12 June
Billing date: 1st of the month
Monthly price: £30
Your first bill will include:
- Part-month (12–30 June)
19 days = £19.00
- Next full month (1–31 July)
£30.00
- Total first payment: £49.00
From 1 August onward, you would pay £30 per month.
Why we bill in advance
Vfast bills monthly in advance so that:
- Your service is always prepaid
- You never fall behind on charges
- Package changes can be applied cleanly at the next billing date
Only your first bill includes extra days.
Where to see this on your account
Your welcome email shows:
- Your activation date
- Your monthly price
- Your first Direct Debit amount (including pro-rata)
- Your future monthly charge
Why your first payment might look higher
Your first bill may be higher if:
- There is a large gap between activation and billing date
- You changed package before the first bill
- You added extras (DigiVoice, V-Smart Wi-Fi)
Your ongoing monthly price is shown as your Recurring Monthly Charge.
