Setting Up Your DigiVoice Service

DigiVoice is Vfast’s digital home phone service. Instead of using a traditional phone line, your calls are made through your broadband connection using your router.

This guide explains how to connect your phone and what to consider when choosing where to place it.

What You’ll Need

  • A Vfast broadband connection
  • Your Vfast router (already connected and online)
  • A standard analogue home phone handset
  • The RJ11-to-BT adapter supplied with your router

How to Connect Your Phone

  1. Locate the PHONE socket on the back of your router (RJ11).
  2. Plug the RJ11-to-BT adapter into this socket.
  3. Connect your phone handset’s cable into the adapter.
  4. Lift the handset and check for a dial tone.

Your DigiVoice service should now be ready to use.

Where Your Phone Will Be Located

Because DigiVoice connects directly to the router, your phone will normally be located wherever the router is placed.

If the router is in a cupboard, hallway, or utility room, this may not be a convenient place for a phone handset.

Recommended: Use a DECT Cordless Phone

We strongly recommend using a DECT cordless phone system.

With a DECT phone:

  • The base station plugs into the router
  • Cordless handsets can be placed anywhere in the home
  • You are not restricted by the router’s location

This is the simplest and most flexible setup for most homes.

Important Things to Know

  • DigiVoice requires power and broadband to work
  • During a power cut or broadband outage, phone calls will not work.
  • Emergency calling availability is covered in our
Emergency Calling & Medical Alarms (Important Info) article.
  • Your phone number can usually be transferred to DigiVoice if required.

Need Wall Phone Sockets to Work?

If you our on our Ultrafast service provided over OFNLs Fibre Infrastructure and want to use DigiVoice over your existing phone sockets, this requires a different setup.
