Fast Broadband (WiMAX)

Fast Broadband (WiMAX) is a wireless broadband service that delivers internet to homes and holiday parks, particularly in rural or hard-to-reach areas where fibre services are not available.

How It Works

  • A small outdoor antenna is installed at your property
  • It connects wirelessly to a nearby Vfast transmitter
  • Your indoor router provides internet and Wi-Fi inside your home
  • No phone line or underground cabling is required

Why Choose WiMAX?

  • Suitable for rural and remote locations
  • Can be installed where fibre is unavailable
  • Faster to install than digging new cables
  • Suitable for everyday use such as browsing, streaming, and video calls

Installation

Standard Install Cost:

  • £249 (12-month contract)
  • £199 (24-month contract)

If difficult roof access is required, a cherry picker may be needed at an additional £109 one-off fee (this also covers any future access for repairs or replacement).

On the day of the install.

If the signal does not meet our standards, installation will not proceed and you will not be charged for the visit.

What the engineer will do:

  • Mount an outdoor antenna
  • Run a cable into your home to the router
  • Drill small holes if needed (using existing routes where possible)
  • Connect and test the service before leaving

Speeds

All of our WiMax packages provide a Max of 24Mbps download with upload speed between 1Mbps-10Mbps dependant on the package selected.

WiMAX performance can vary depending on:

  • Distance from the transmitter
  • Line of sight between your property and the transmitter
  • Environmental factors such as trees and buildings

We will only proceed with installation if your signal meets our quality standards.

Phone Line

A phone line is not required.

If you require a home phone service, you can add DigiVoice, our digital phone service that works over the Internet connection.

Common Questions

Will WiMAX cover my whole house?

WiMAX only delivers internet to your property.

Your router provides Wi-Fi inside your home, and coverage depends on wall thickness, layout, and router placement.

Is WiMAX suitable for streaming and gaming?

Yes. It supports HD streaming, video calls, and online gaming for most households, depending on signal quality and usage.

Is WiMAX safe?

Yes. WiMAX uses low-power radio signals similar to Wi-Fi and mobile networks. All equipment meets UK safety standards.

Can weather affect my WiMAX service?

In most conditions, WiMAX works reliably. Severe weather can sometimes affect wireless signals temporarily, but service usually returns to normal once conditions improve.
