Reprogram a Zyxel VMG8924-B10D

Follow these steps to reconnect your router and restore your internet connection.



1. Connect to the Router

You can connect using a cable (recommended) or Wi-Fi.


Option A: Wired (recommended)

  1. Plug an Ethernet cable into one of the yellow LAN ports on the router.
  2. Plug the other end into your computer.


Option B: Wi-Fi (if no cable available)

  1. Check the sticker on the router.
  2. The default Wi-Fi name starts with Zyxel_.
  3. Note the default wireless key (8-digit number).
  4. Open Wi-Fi settings on your device.
  5. Select Zyxel_xxxxx (numbers/letters vary).
  6. Enter the wireless key from the router sticker.


You will be connected to the router but not to the internet yet.



2. Log In to the Router

  1. Open a web browser.
  2. In the address bar, type:
    • 192.168.1.1
  3. Press ENTER.
  4. Enter:
    • Username: admin
    • Password: 1234
  5. Click LOGIN.



3. Change the Router Login Password

You will be prompted to change the password.


  1. Enter a new password using:
  2. first initial + surname + 1 (lowercase)
    Example: Joe Bloggs = jbloggs1
  3. Confirm the password and log in.



4. Enable Remote Management (Vfast Support Access)

  1. Click MAINTENANCE.
  2. Select REMOTE MGMT.
  3. Select the TRUST DOMAIN tab.
  4. Click ADD TRUST DOMAIN.
  5. Enter:
    • 80.88.192.113/32
  6. Click APPLY.
  7. Select the MGMT SERVICES tab.
  8. In the Trust Domain column, enable all rows.
  9. Click APPLY.



5. Set Up the Internet Connection

Your setup depends on your service type:

  • Ultrafast (Full Fibre) and Fast (WiMAX) use ETHWAN
  • Superfast (FTTC) uses VDSL


ETHWAN Setup (Full Fibre and WiMAX)

  1. Click NETWORK SETTINGS.
  2. Select BROADBAND.
  3. Find the ETHWAN interface.
  4. Click the MODIFY (pen icon).
  5. Under WAN Configuration Edit > General:
    • Mode: Routing
    • Encapsulation: PPPoE
  6. Under PPP Information:
    • PPP User Name: your account number
    • PPP Password: your PPPoE password
  7. Click SAVE.


VDSL Setup (FTTC)

  1. Click NETWORK SETTINGS.
  2. Select BROADBAND.
  3. Find the VDSL interface.
  4. Click the MODIFY (pen icon).
  5. Under WAN Configuration Edit > General:
    • Mode: Routing
    • Encapsulation: PPPoE
  6. Under PPP Information:
    • PPP User Name: your account number
    • PPP Password: your PPPoE password
  7. Under VLAN:
    • Enable VLAN
    • 802.1p: 0
    • 802.1q: 101
  8. Click APPLY.



6. Set Up Your Wi-Fi Name (SSID)

  1. Click NETWORK SETTINGS.
  2. Select WIRELESS.
  3. In Wireless Network Name (SSID), enter:
    • VFAST followed by the account holder’s initials
      Example: Joe Bloggs = VFAST JB
  4. Click APPLY.


If you are connected over Wi-Fi, reconnect to the new Wi-Fi name.



7. Test Your Connection

  1. Open a new browser tab.
  2. Visit vfast.co.uk or another website.
  3. If the page loads, your connection is working.
