Reprogram a TP-Link WR940n

Follow these steps to reconnect your router and restore your internet connection.



1. Connect to the Router

You can connect using a cable (recommended) or Wi-Fi.


Option A: Wired (recommended)

  1. Plug an Ethernet cable into one of the yellow LAN ports on the router.
  2. Plug the other end into your computer.


Option B: Wi-Fi (if no cable available)

  1. Check the sticker on the bottom of the router.
  2. The default Wi-Fi name starts with TP-Link_.
  3. Open Wi-Fi settings on your device.
  4. Select TP-Link_xxxxx (numbers/letters vary).
  5. Enter the 8-digit PIN shown on the router sticker.


You will be connected to the router but not to the internet yet.



2. Log In to the Router

  1. Open a web browser.
  2. In the address bar, type:
    • 192.168.0.1
  3. Press ENTER.
  4. Enter:
    • Username: admin
    • Password: admin
  5. Click LOGIN.



3. Set Up the Internet Connection

  1. Click NETWORK.
  2. Select WAN.
  3. Set WAN Connection Type to PPPoE / Russia PPPoE.
  4. Enter:
    • Username: your account number
    • Password: your PPPoE Password
  5. Click SAVE.



4. Enable Remote Management (Vfast Support Access)

  1. Click SECURITY.
  2. Select REMOTE MANAGEMENT.
  3. Set:
    • Port: 80
    • Remote Management IP Address: 80.88.192.113
  4. Click SAVE.



5. Change the Router Login Password

  1. Click SYSTEM TOOLS.
  2. Select PASSWORD.
  3. Enter:
    1. Old Username: admin
    2. Old Password: admin
    3. New Username: admin
    4. New Password: account holder’s first initial and surname with 1 at the end (lowercase)
      Example: Joe Bloggs = jbloggs1
  4. Click SAVE.



6. Set Up Your Wi-Fi Name (SSID)

  1. Click WIRELESS.
  2. Select WIRELESS SETTINGS.
  3. In Wireless Network Name, enter:
    • VFAST followed by the account holder’s initials
      Example: Joe Bloggs = VFAST JB
  4. Click SAVE.


If you are connected over Wi-Fi, reconnect to the new Wi-Fi name.



7. Test Your Connection

  1. Open a new browser tab.
  2. Visit vfast.co.uk or another website.
  3. If the page loads, your connection is working.
