Testing Your Connection Using PPPoE

We may ask you to run a direct PPPoE test to check your broadband connection without using your router.

This helps us confirm whether an issue is caused by the broadband line or by the router itself.

Important:

  • This is a temporary test
  • Your Wi-Fi will stop working during the test
  • Your normal setup must be restored afterwards

1. Connect Your Computer Directly

  1. Turn off your router
  2. Unplug the Ethernet cable from the router’s WAN / Internet port
  3. Plug that cable directly into your computer or laptop

2. Set Up the PPPoE Connection

You will need the PPPoE username and password provided by Vfast.

Windows

  1. Open Control Panel
  2. Go to Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center
  3. Click Set up a new connection or network
  4. Select Connect to the Internet
  5. Choose Broadband (PPPoE)
  6. Enter:
    • Username: (provided by Vfast)
    • Password: (provided by Vfast)
  7. Click Connect

Once connected:

visit:https://vfast.speedtestcustom.com and run a speed test.

macOS

  1. Open System Settings (or System Preferences)
  2. Go to Network
  3. Click + to add a new service
  4. Select PPPoE
  5. Choose Ethernet
  6. Leave the service name blank
  7. Enter:
    • Username: (provided by Vfast)
    • Password: (provided by Vfast)
  8. Click Connect

Once connected:
visit:https://vfast.speedtestcustom.com and run a speed test.

3. Send Us the Results

Please tell us:

  • Your download and upload speeds
  • Whether the connection felt stable
  • Any error messages you saw

4. Restore Your Normal Setup

When finished:

  1. Disconnect the PPPoE connection on your computer
  2. Plug the Ethernet cable back into the router’s WAN / Internet port
  3. Power the router back on
  4. Confirm your Wi-Fi is working again

If You Get Stuck

If the connection fails or you are unsure at any step:

  • Stop the test
  • Contact the Service Desk

We will guide you through the process or advise the next steps.
